Bronisław Huberman was born in Częstochowa, Poland, in 1882. He showed an early talent for music, and by the age of seven, he was already giving concerts. At the age of 12, he made his debut at the Vienna Philharmonic. Huberman quickly became one of the most celebrated violinists in the world, and he toured extensively throughout Europe and the United States.

In 1933, the Nazis came to power in Germany. Huberman, who was Jewish, was forced to flee his home country. He settled in Switzerland, where he continued to perform and teach. In 1936, he founded the Palestine Orchestra, which later became the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.

As the Holocaust began, Huberman became increasingly concerned about the fate of Jewish musicians. In 1940, he founded the Huberman Orchestra, which was made up of Jewish musicians who had fled Nazi-occupied Europe. The orchestra toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, raising funds for Jewish refugees and raising awareness of the plight of Jewish musicians.

In 1944, Huberman helped to organize the rescue of over 1,000 Jewish musicians from Auschwitz-Birkenau. He arranged for the musicians to be transported to Switzerland, where they were given a safe haven. Huberman's efforts saved the lives of many of the greatest Jewish musicians of the 20th century, including Yehudi Menuhin, Isaac Stern, and Artur Rubinstein.

Huberman continued to work for the rest of his life to promote peace and reconciliation. He died in Switzerland in 1947.

Bronisław Huberman was a true hero. He used his fame and fortune to save the lives of thousands of Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. His story is an inspiration to us all.
